Frequently
Asked Questions
Do
you do commissions?
Let's
get this out of the way first. Not right now, and not
in the forseeable future. Why? Because honestly, when
it comes to drawing, I have found I work better with
what pops out of my head. With my hectic schedule on
top of that, it just becomes easier to spend my free
time drawing what I want, GTS or non-GTS. When I did
try commissions, I found that real-life was really in
the way, and because of that, I failed a few people,
for which I am very sorry for. So, in short, not right
now. I am not ruling it out ever, but it is very unlikely.
Do
you take requests?
Second
most asked question. I take what I call "suggestions"
now. Requests is a term that has become known as a free
commission. Welp, I don't work that way. Again, with
my busy life, I work on my own terms -- that is the
short and long of it. So no requests. I will always
take suggestions, and if I end up using a really good
idea, I will give credit for that suggestion, no problem.
So email with
suggestions if you have some nice ones.
What
do you use to draw?
Basically
a pencil and paper. I have continued to get comfortable
with my tablet. I have used it for six years now, and
still find the paper and pencil, with friction it brings,
making me more comfortable. So, those two things, my
tablet, Micron pens for manual inking, Photoshop for
coloring and digital inking, and also now drawing. Illustrator
sometimes for smooth long vector lines. Basically that
is it. When I say pencil, I also have never become comfortable
with mechanical pencils, which will negate me from drawing
'true' anime, but I was really never into doing that
anyways, so oh well. I draw with the whole gamut range
of pencils, but I prefer 6H for sketching, and then
moving up into Bs for harder outlines if I plan to go
that far, which I rarely do. I usually upload now to
the computer and finish it off there if I am happy enough
with a sketch. I am not too deep, and pretty rustic
on my techniques. I learn tricks from people and basically
use bargain bins tools to adapt them to my uses. Paper,
is anything. I sketch on anything. Recently I have liked
my grocery list -_-. Sketching is so important, but
so overlooked. Most budding artists want to be able
to create a finished drawing from anything they put
down on paper, which simply does not happen. And if
you do that, not only will you sketch less, and thus
draw less and not improve, but you will have lower quality
finished works -- that is just the basic truth.
Aw,
but I want to pay for a drawing!
Yeah,
I get this too. And I am flattered. Really. But I will
not be able to come through with you. Also I have found
that I hate dealing with "clients". Sigh,
that does not mean I don't like people. But I worked
in the biz, and also doing GTS commissions, and I found
my ideas or edits ended up being more creative (sorry,
that is not boasting, that is simple truth!), and yet
the edits that naturally came because of my style or
the fact that it flowed better would be turned down
because clients had an idea of what they wanted no matter
what. Yes, I know that is the biz, but that is not something
I wish to be a part of right now. I like creative freedom.
And I work SO much better without strings attached.
If I can find a 'patron'
that harkens back to the old Renaissance days and just
pays me to create whatever comes out of my head, then
we can talk. Seriously, email
me if you want to hire me as a lifetime Michelangelo,
that would be my dream.
What
do you draw/like?
I
made basically a GTS life story
here that outlines that fairly well. But basically,
I love huge sizes, I love huge diferences in sizes.
I love tummies, thighs, breasts, redheads, Asians, freckles,
and lingerie (nice frilly bras are keen!) I am not into
crush, feet, or hardcore stuff. So I will not being
drawing any of that anytime soon.
